Summer Program Information:

Walled Lake Schools will be offering several programs for students and families in the summer of 2018. This list of programs will be made available in the spring of 2018. The Community Education Department will be offering its complete slate of programs as well.

Summer Food Service Information:

Walled Lake Schools will participate in the Summer Food Service Program beginning Monday, June 18.  This program provides meals to children ages 1-18 without charge.  Young adults from age 19 to 26 are also eligible if they’re enrolled in programs for the mentally or physically disabled that are recognized by the state or a local public agency.  Adults may purchase meals for $2.00. 

Lunches will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Walled Lake Western High School Cafeteria, 600 Beck Road, Walled Lake, MI 48390. 

This program will run from Monday, June 18, through Friday, August 17, with the exception of July 4.  For more information, please contact 248-956-3080.  


For Elementary Students:

Visual Arts Summer Camp, June 18-22

  • M-F, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Location: Clifford Smart Middle School (8500 Commerce Road, Commerce Twp.)
  • Art Camp is one full week (Monday through Friday) of high-intensity, engaging lessons that incorporate new materials in new ways (or old materials in new ways!), all while strengthening students' problem solving, teamwork, organization and time management skills. 2D and 3D lessons are taught, including (but not limited to) drawing, painting, sculpture and technology.
  • Only 4th and 5th grade students that have been nominated by their Walled Lake Art Teacher are allowed to participate.

Creating Music Camp, June 18-28

  • M-F,  9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Location: Mary Helen Guest Elementary (1655 Decker Road, Walled Lake)
  • Description: This camp provides students with enrichment opportunities in the areas of creating and improvising music with voices, instruments and iPads.
  • Daily Attendance is MANDATORY
  • Only 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students that have been nominated by their Walled Lake Music Teacher are allowed to participate.

Performing Music Camp, June 18-28

  • M-F, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Location: Walnut Creek Middle School (7601 Walnut Lake, West Bloomfield)
  • Description: This camp provides students with enrichment opportunities in the areas of part singing, playing percussion instruments, and movement.
  • Daily Attendance is MANDATORY
  • Only 4th and 5th grade students that have been nominated by their Walled Lake Music Teacher are allowed to participate.

Prime Time Summer Care, June 20 - August 17

  • Locations: Hickory Woods Elementary, Loon Lake Elementary and Mary Helen Guest Elementary | Keith Elementary Registration CLOSED
  • Hours: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Summer Care is a state-licensed child care service operated by the Walled Lake Consolidated School District. It is available for incoming kindergartners through exiting fifth graders and offers full or half day childcare at four elementary locations.

WL Northern Softball Camp, June 18-20

  • M-W, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Grades K-9 in the fall
  • Location: Walled Lake Northern Varsity Fields (South side of school)
  • Cost: $80 per child - Cost savings if registering multiple children

Demonstration Kitchen Kids Summer Series

  • July 14, 21, 28 & August 4 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • Location: Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital
  • Join the Demonstration Kitchen at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital for some fun in the kitchen this summer. Cooking classes are designed to teach kids the importance of making healthy meal choices and how to create delicious and
    nutritious meals for the whole family.
  • Each class includes fun, interactive cooking, delicious samples, take-home recipes and more. Classes are designed for children ages 6-12. Registration required.

Camp Invention, July 16-20

  • M-F, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Exiting Grades K-6
  • Location: James. R. Geisler Middle School (46720 West Pontiac Trail, Walled Lake)
  • All labs are staffed by two highly qualified, certified teachers.

Oakland Schools 2018 Middle School STEM Summer Camps

  • M-F
  • Camp dates/times vary by grade level
  • In collaboration with Oakland University, Oakland Schools Technical Campuses will be
    hosting week-long, STEM focused camps. Students will experience project-based, hands-on activities in six cluster areas, spend a day at Oakland University touring
    the campus and visiting STEMrelated programs of study and participate in a career day where they can interact with business and industry partners, create a portfolio and complete career development activities.

Online Summer 8th Grade Math Module June 25-29 | July 9-27

Walled Lake Robotics Camp, August 6-10

  • M-F, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  • Location: Walled Lake Western High School Robotics Lab
  • The format is planned similar to previous camps with groups of 2 students engaged to design and build a robot using kits based on VEX hardware.  Each group will be coached by high school robotics students in a build/game competition. The objective will be a robot designed to compete in a game that will be revealed the first day of class.  There will be two rounds of competition scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.  Adults and siblings are welcome to attend and watch the competitions.
  • Cost: $200 (covering camp, work shirt and lunch)

High School Online Summer School, June 25 - June 29 | July 7 - July 27

  • M-F, 8-10:30 a.m.
  • Locations:
    • Walled Lake Central High School (1600 Oakley Park Road, Walled Lake)
    • Walled Lake Northern High School (6000 Bogie Lake Road, Commerce)
    • Walled Lake Western High School (600 Beck Road, Walled Lake)
  • No classes the week of July 2-6
  • Proctored final exam must be completed by July 30
  • Credit Recovery/Credit Advancement
  • Students must consult their high school counselor for course selection
  • All labs are staffed by highly qualified, certified teachers
